BVA / B.Des in Product Design
The primary objective of the program is to impart knowledge in the areas of Product Design by understanding the product persona, along with solving problems with the approach of sustainability and aesthetics. The students are trained with a set of tools and methods for product design and development. They will gain the confidence in their own abilities to design a system, component, or a process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health, safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. This will raise awareness of the importance of various functions in the development of new products like marketing, finance, industrial design, engineering, and production. The objective of BVA/B. Des in Product Design is also to engage the student in continuous dialogue and discourses for better understanding of the requirements of cross cultural modern society. It encourages students to learn their personal aims, goals, and abilities through self reflection and self directed Projects. The product design course teaches students to design the products that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. It provides knowledge about consumer products, custom based products design, design process, and the sustainability of the design. Students will be able to decide with high levels of intelligence consistently throughout the innovation process. They will validate and /or develop appropriate proof of proposed concepts (Prototypes). With the study of requirements, they will propose innovative solutions. Systems that evolve over time define products and services as clear business models. BVA / B.Des in Product Design
- Course Duration : 4 years
- Eligibility : Pass in 10+2 / Higher Secondary (HS) / Pre University (PUC) / 'A' Level (with 12 years of schooling) or its equivalent with English as one of the languages. Shall have secured a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in core subjects.
Course Outcome
The programme aims to consistently create original, appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and desirable products. It also introduces the digital interface, digital medium and its application in design to work with 3D representations of the Design. The students employ appropriate research methods with empathy to discover problems faced by people in an innovation context.
Career Scope
The career opportunities for product designers include industrial designers, electronics designers, product management. Product designers can find employment in a range of sectors, such as consumer electronics, medical devices, automobiles, etc. Product design has a diverse range of applications, with room for creativity, growth and to make an impact.
